Meredith is an emergency manager and adjunct professor in New Orleans. While Meredith's days are spent preparing for emergencies, her spare time is spent helping to manage the Tyrolia Institutes in Waco, Texas, which were first imagined by her mother, the late Dr. Kylene Beers. The Institutes are designed to, "honor and treat teachers as royalty," while bringing together small groups of educators to learn and collaborate on ways to help students enhance their reading and writing skills.
